Marketing Your Business Online

It is difficult to make your small business grow, especially if its products are common and sold by hundreds of other companies. Using the internet is one way to get your business known, bringing knowledge of your products to local and foreign customers. Within a very short time, your business can be known across the world if the marketing tools provided by the internet are taken advantage of.

Before using the internet to market your small business, it is necessary to research and know how the different demographics will view your product or service. The information you gather is vital in establishing the right market of consumers which have an interest in what you are selling. This research can be used in gaining crucial information like location, gender, age group, and income level of the customers targeted. Using your research, you can create a plan for your marketing which is not only effective but cost-effective as well.

There are five things you need to consider doing if you want your internet business to be successful. They are:

Website: Create a website for your business! It is the medium in which your business has presence online. Use a domain name that correctly represents your business. For instance, if you’re selling pet food, use “petfood” in the domain name, e.g. timcopetfood.com, and not just timco.com. You should also post actual useful information and content to the site, to give your visitors the information they need. Websites are also convenient places to put information about your business e.g. contact info emails, hours, etc.

Videos: Instead of a static webpage, offer the user a multimedia experience with helpful videos. Don’t go overboard though! You need text too. Using YouTube allows your website to get views and gain publicity through another route than just search engines.

Google Analytics: Set up a Google Analytics account to know where your website’s traffic comes from. Doing this helps you identify your demographic and either shape your business to suit them, or shape them to suit your business.

Comment on blog posts: Post useful comments on other people’s blogs to create awareness for your small business through your provided link. Be careful, considerate, and do not spam unrelated blogs. The idea is to share traffic, not be ignored for just another spammer.

Pay Per Click Campaign: Google Adwords or Microsoft adCenter allow you to “buy” traffic by directing people to your website for a small fee. In addition, you can use these services to put ads on your website and potentially generate income off of those, but only if you have a lot of traffic.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to online marketing, but I hope it provided you with some ideas on how to market your small business online. Remember, if people hate your company or your company’s online presence, they will hate your product/service. Ideally you will build a presence that will earn the respect of your customers.

So, You don’t “do” Marketing?

If you’ve never taken the plunge, you might wonder what you’re missing.
 Well, frankly... a whole lot.

It’s never too late, so here’s a primer about jumping into something that could change your bottom line...a whole lot.

The business website is no longer new:  (almost) everyone has one.  Getting one, and making it an attention grabber or sultry seductress, is this century’s Marketing Job One.  If you don’t have a creative bone in your body, it’s smart to pay a good web designer to design yours.  The goal is to give first-time visitors to your home page an experience they’ll never forget.
The acronym SEO stands for “search engine optimization.”  Manipulating search engine algorithms is an art.  Become an artist in ways to drive traffic to your site, or hire someone to create your masterpiece.

Pay-per-click advertising is buying words that will make search engines love you.  When searchers use your key words, search engines find you effortlessly. Cost effective and easy to master.
A periodic eNewsletter is the equivalent of yesteryear’s sales call.  Plus, it’s cheaper and more efficient. (Of course, it eliminates the three-martini-lunch, so there is a downside to consider.)  (There’s a whole new industry out there called “content providers” for those who get queasy just thinking about writing.)

A website blog that regularly features must-have insight into your business niche is a good investment.  (Again, the right-brained folks can’t wait to hear from you left-brainers.)
The concept of the “link exchange” is another traffic driver.  You and other business owners have a lot in common. You’re both trying to capture parts of the same audience, so why not join forces?  Placing a link to your site on a related site, and reciprocating the favor, is a powerful way to attract new customers.  This is DIY, or you can hire it out.  (Think “dating,” but for companies.)

There’s no escaping the glam of social media.  Facebook and Twitter are the two high profile platforms out there, but they’re not your only choices.  A presence on social media says you’re approachable, fully engaged and available as a dance partner.  This is also a DIY (or not) element.
Finally, make sure your masterpiece loads quickly.  Sounds simple, but the speed with which your content does (or does not) materialize before inquiring eyes is truly the glue that keeps your whole marketing boat afloat.

Don’t miss the boat.  Join in!

Making Grassroots Marketing Work for Your Small Business

In a new-age world where marketing budgets are shrinking and small businesses are failing, many owners are returning to the roots of marketing. Grassroots marketing techniques were thought to be outdated and passé. Strategies that worked in the beginning of the business age included local word of mouth, great customer service, and personal relations. Technological advances have taken grassroots marketing to a completely new level. Internet marketing uses personal relationships and social media interaction on a massive scale to help any small business make its mark on its customers.

Then and Now

In the past, grassroots marketing worked by advertising locally to customers within the community. Small business owners relied heavily on word of mouth to grow their customer base. Customers would tell their friends and family of the great experience they had with the business and that person would try out the business and tell their friends and family and so on.  This has always been an effective strategy for gaining new business.

With all the new technology and platforms available to consumers, spreading the word about a great business is easier and better than ever. Now, consumers have a great experience and make a post on Facebook or Twitter. Their friends and family see the post and share it. Eventually the entire network connected to the original customer knows all about the great experience and desires a relationship with that company. Word spreads fast, and social media can make or break a small business.

Pitfalls of Grassroots Marketing in the Technology Age

Just as good experiences fill the network and spread like wildfire through social media, bad experiences will spread the exact same way. This can be detrimental to a small business just starting out. The first few months of operation are the most important for establishing customer relations and beginning to turn a profit. Businesses must be on the top of their game and handle customers appropriately to ensure the best experience, and the best “word-of-mouth”, possible. Sticking to ethical business practices, providing excellent customer support, and creating quality products and services ensures this marketing strategy will work.

Perfecting the Grassroots Marketing Strategy

Small business intent on using grassroots marketing must start with a quality product or service. This should be something the consumer truly needs or wants. Products and services should benefit the average consumer. Here are some other tips for making grassroots marketing work for small businesses:

  1. Advertising – Advertisements should be simple, catchy and effective. Good catch phrases that stick in the customer’s head will have them sharing and talking in no time.
  2. “Free” – Offering free samples, buy one get one free, or some other variation is a great eye-catcher. When the products or services are good, and they are “free”, customers are more likely to try them. Hats, key chains, refrigerator magnets, and coupons offered to customers will be a reminder to them of the experience they had with the company and make good conversation starters.
  3. Promotions – Promotional offers are the best way to keep customers coming back for more. Offering current customers special discounts and other incentives will make them more likely to come back and bring a friend. They know they are getting something back from the company, so they want to share that experience so others can benefit as well.
  4. Be part of something bigger – Community involvement not only gets the word out about a small business, but it also shows the locals that the business cares about its customers. Supporting local programs, communicating with customers, holding local events, and staying in the public eye are just a few ways small businesses can give back to the customers and community.

Remember, word of mouth can damage small business just as easily as it can help them. It is very important to focus on providing the best consumer experience possible to make the business stand out above others. Giving back to customers, getting involved with the community, running frequent promotions, offering something “free”, and using catchy, memorable advertisements are just a few ways to make grassroots marketing work for small business.

Keeping a Small Business Site Legal

Few people know how much time and energy is required to create a website for your business.  Whereas large businesses and corporations have a dedicated group of workers constantly editing their website, small business owners and the self-employed usually must compete online in their downtime.  Those of older generations often must spend a considerable amount of time figuring out how to go about creating a site; embellishing it with images and making it attract customers.  However, copyright problems can be a headache for the business owner wanting to use free resources from the Internet. With a few easy pointers, you can ensure that your site follows basic legal guidelines.

One of the biggest dilemmas facing web surfers is finding free images to use.  Unless a professional photographer is available, it can be hard to find good quality pictures that are clear, crisp and professional without costing an arm and a leg.  By doing a simple search for images with any basic search engine, one can find hundreds of pictures of any given word.  Many of these images are protected from being used by the photographer or image source, translating to a hefty legal sum if challenged.  More and more photographers are using high-tech search services to find what sites are illegally using their pictures.  To avoid such situations, use a search engine to find free pictures that do not require a subscription or registration.  A good image catalog will be free and accessible without giving personal information.

Another common trap lies in plagiarized writing.  Logos and slogans can certainly be tricky, but it’s important to re-word and pay attention to the titles and claims made on your site.  Avoid copying word-for-word text on other sites.  Instead, make it your own by putting it in different words. Customers will want to see how your specific company is different from the rest.  It’s also important that you have a secure connection if taking any personal information on your site.  If your Internet connection is shared, other computer users can hack into any unprotected areas and use data to steal a person’s identity.  Nobody wants to be found as the unsecure point that led to criminal action.  Keep it safe for your customers and they’ll keep coming back.

Lastly, for those who feel intimidated by the idea of creating an online site, reach out to your fellow computer users via help forums.  There exist many sites that allow you to post a question and you’ll receive a quick response from more experienced users eager to share their knowledge.  The more proactive you are in maintaining an accessible, positive experience on your site, the better your business will be offline.

How to Grow as a Presenter

Fear of the person who has offered to critique a talk cannot help anyone grow as a presenter. A critique provides a man or woman with a way to reveal a judgment. It can contain a note of praise; it does not have to be filled with critical remarks.

Today, marketers get critiqued by all those who go online and submit feedback on some type of posted material, whether that feedback concerns content or an Internet advertisement. Presenters do not have access to the same sort of submitted comments.  However, technology has allowed each of them to take advantage of video tapes.

Of course, if a speaker really wants to benefit from watching a tape of him or her giving a presentation, then he or she must know which details are most important.  The eyes should not be focused on one spot at all times during a talk; however, the eyes must remain steady, not blinking or squinting-out at the audience. The tone of the voice should vary enough to make the talk interesting.

Some things cannot be judged by the person who has been taped; those aspects of a talk are best critiqued/judged by an objective individual. For example, such a person should be asked if the message in the taped talk makes sense. If an audience cannot follow what a speaker has to say, then at least some of the listeners are apt to doze-off.

In addition, careful study of a single taping fails to provide a presenter all the details that can be used to help him or her experience the desired amount of growth. Sometimes an excellent speaker gets heard several times by one or more of the same men and women. In that case, a speaker’s tendency to use stories could backfire, especially if he or she insists on using the same stories, over and over again. That habit can really delay a speaker’s growth, if it gets combined with a tendency to drone on and on, to give a very long and tiring presentation.

Naturally, no speaker can get much pre-presentation feedback, if he or she does not rehearse, before stepping-up to the podium. That fact calls attention to the need for practicing any talk, even if there is only one person in that pre-presentation audience. By holding a practice session, a presenter may be able to get some idea of the sorts of questions that might be raised, following the real, the scheduled presentation.

Willingness to consider critiqued comments does not have to result in a loss of self-confidence. It should be seen as a way to discover what mistake must be avoided the next time. It can help a presenter to grow and to approach a level of excellence.

Take A Closer Look At Your Customer Base

If you have a business in Scottsdale Arizona whether it is small or large, marketing to your customers will be a huge part of your success. What many Scottsdale Arizona business owners do not realize is that more than 80% of their existing customers are usually either costing them money or not making them any at all.

With most businesses only an average of 20% of current customers are actually creating a profit. With 70% of the customer base breaking even and 10% costing the company 50% - 100%, it is a great marketing idea to begin targeting the 20% that are earning your Scottsdale Arizona business the 150% - 200% in profits.

Take a closer look at the Scottsdale Arizona customers who you are marketing to and find out which ones are actually earning you money. Focus your campaign efforts on those customers and eliminate the marketing campaigns that are geared towards the ones who are not earning you money or that are costing you money. It may seem harsh to cut off customers in this manner but in order to succeed it is necessary. Your Scottsdale Arizona business will not survive if you spend your efforts targeting the wrong customers. Many Scottsdale Arizona business owners believe any business is good business, but upon taking a closer look you will realize that is simply not true. Gear your efforts towards the business that earns you money and you will notice an amazing increase in profits for your company.

The Downside To Franchise Ownership

There are many reasons why owning a Scottsdale Arizona franchise may not be right for you. There are risks involved, high costs and sometimes a long wait for a return. Most Scottsdale Arizona businesses will offer very little information about profits, sales or returns on your investments and if they do offer any information at all it is usually just an average.

The startup cost for owning a Scottsdale Arizona franchise can be anywhere from a few thousand dollars to a few hundred thousand dollars. You will also be responsible for equipping and furnishing your franchise and with so much beginning cost it could take a few years to recoup.

You have to keep in mind that owning a Scottsdale Arizona franchise means you have the right to operate anywhere you want, so that means that other franchise owners do as well. The last thing you want is to have another business just like yours open up across the street and steal half of your business.

You may be signing your rights away by entering into that contract with your Scottsdale Arizona franchisor. Most franchisees are given limited recourse on legal matters if they are wronged by the franchisor in any way.

You will not have control of the Scottsdale Arizona franchise that will remain the right of the franchisor. This means that any decision made on marketing, brand or price will be determined by the franchisor and could harm your ability to earn profits. Of course the franchisor wants you to earn so they can as well, but mistakes are made and when they are not yours to control it can sting.

Should I Buy A Franchise Or Start My Own Company?

If you are a business entrepreneur and are looking for a great opportunity, the two that come to mind first is investing in a franchise or starting your own business. There are pros and cons to each and without properly weighing out your options on both you could end up making a huge mistake.

A Scottsdale Arizona franchise opportunity can be a great option for a readymade business. But, if you want any control over your Scottsdale Arizona business a franchise will not offer you that opportunity. A Scottsdale Arizona franchise will retain all rights to marketing, brand promotion, products, pricing and sales whereas starting your own Scottsdale Arizona business will give you complete control. You have to keep in mind that with control comes responsibility. It can be overwhelming for a new business entrepreneur to take on all of the marketing aspects of their Scottsdale Arizona business. You will need to learn the different marketing techniques offline as well as online and spend an enormous amount of time in your campaigns. The Scottsdale Arizona franchise will have a team of experts to rely on a well orchestrated marketing campaign and brand management tools that will relieve you of any of the responsibility.

Starting your own business offers freedom, control and responsibility. Of course with owning your own business there will be no one to take any portion of your profits and you can even begin franchising yourself once you take off. But there are no guarantees you will succeed, and that stands true with both starting your own business and buying into a franchise.

How Technology Has Changed Our Lives

Do you remember the days before the internet, computers and cell phones? Vaguely? It seems like a million years ago, but it was just a couple decades ago that our lives were not consumed by the technology we are so reliant on today.

Think about the times before the computer and the internet, where we actually had to look up information in the encyclopedia, get Seattle Washington, Illinois or New York business information from the yellow pages and drive to the store and wait in line to buy our products. Sounds crazy don't it?

Think about the time before cell phones, where we had to actually call someone from a payphone if we were away from home or if our car was stranded on the side of the road we had to rely on the kindness of strangers to take us to the phone. That sounds really crazy don't it?

Today we are used to our technology and yes we do rely on it, but when you think back to how things were before it does not seem like such a bad thing. We can find information on virtually anything, locate businesses and make purchases with a simple click of the mouse. If we need to know where someone is we have 24 hour access to them through our cell phones and in the event of an emergency we always have a way to contact help immediately, from anywhere.

So those who frown upon the new technology need to take a closer look at what it actually offers to our lives, convenience, and benefit and in some instances safety.

Finding Your Niche and Internet Marketing

There are many aspects to internet marketing and the first thing you have to do to begin your campaign is to find your niche. A niche is an area that has not been over saturated but still offers some value to the targeted audience you're after. If you set your goals to broad and do not stick to a specific topic you could end up drowning in the sea of competition. So, if you are thinking about selling car parts, stick to something specific at first, such as Nissan car parts or racing auto parts. You want to be able to set yourself apart from any competition that is online and believe me, there is plenty of competition, no matter what niche you choose. But, having a smaller more focused niche will help you to more effectively market to your audience, so if you are selling parts in Illinois, New York or Seattle Washington then focus on that area. You can always broaden your business later, but get that solid foundation first.

When you are searching for a niche, check the search engines and find out what type of competition you have. Make sure that you are able to offer something better, something for less or have some kind of an edge that will get people's attention and make them want to choose your company over the rest. Keep in mind that when you are marketing to your potential customers that they are the right target audience for your company. If you are selling truck parts then be sure that you research to find out who is most likely to be truck owners.

Business Management Educational Training

In any Seattle Washington organization there will be the need for teams, team leaders and managers. The managers are to train the team leaders and the team leaders are to guide the team to the specified goal. In order to make good team leaders, our managers need to be properly trained as well as the team leaders and even the team.

Training should consist of showing the managers and the team leaders how to properly instill confidence into the team and to motivate them towards their goal. Respect needs to be established and the understanding that even though the group is working as a team that they are still individuals and may need to be treated differently to get the results needed.

The team may have different skills, strengths and of course weaknesses. The training for managers and team leaders should show them how to identify those skills, strengths and weaknesses and assign that particular team member to the area that best fits their skill set and ability.

Taking the time to research each New York team member and fully understand where they would best benefit the team is a huge part of managing. You can use time management software to get a good idea of how well each member utilizes their time on particular projects.

Always offer recognition to the Illinois team members to instill a feeling of pride and to keep motivation levels high. You never want to make your team feel as though they were not appreciated, so make sure you give credit where credit is due.

How The Internet Changed The Face of Shopping

The internet has brought with it many new concepts for business. The old days of having an overhead with a store front on the local corner to sell your merchandise or service is over. For the mom and pop stores that have not been brought into the new age of the internet, they are the only ones who are truly feeling any ill effects of the new technology. For all of the other retailers and wholesalers who have moved on with the new technology and began their websites and created an online presence, they are reaping the rewardsif they are doing it right!

Buying Online Has Caught On

People used to be more cautious about buying anything online. The concerns were usually that their information may be stolen or that they would not receive the products as described when ordering or that they would not receive them at all. eBay and PayPal changed the way people thought and changed the way they bought their merchandise. eBay became extremely popular and offered everything you could possibly want, used or new. It became a place where you could find even the hardest to find items, antiques, collectibles, car or truck parts, you name it, eBay had it. The security that was offered through the PayPal system allowed people to rest their fears. They were given the options through eBay as well as PayPal that if they did not receive their items or if they were not what were described by the seller, they were protected and were able to receive their money back. This type of protection allowed more and more people to open their eyes and their wallets to online spending.

With the new feeling of empowerment people gained from their online purchasing, the feeling of confidence grew and more and more online shops began to feel the rewards. Today, with the new secured purchasing technology it is actually safer to buy online than at your local drugstore. Now millions of people are buying their products online, spending their hard earned cash on items that will be delivered to their front door step and they never have to enter a store. The convenience is an amazing feature of the online shopping craze, but selection and price are the two main reasons people prefer online shopping to going to the local retailer in their area.

Getting Noticed Online

With so many online web stores and the millions of products that are offered, how on earth do you ever get noticed? If you are selling an item that is extremely popular, then it may be tough, but if you find a smaller niche to offer people you have a better fighting chance. Even if you are selling a popular item and have thousands of competitors, if you handle your website correctly, follow some simple guidelines and adhere to the rules of Google you will be just fine. Google has laid out their guidelines for web owners; it shows them how to prepare their site for moving up in the rankings through Google search. There are other techniques you might find online, ones that say they will work fast and get you amazing results, but if those techniques are not considered ethical to Google, your site will never be given a chanceso make sure you understand the difference between ethical marketing and non ethical marketing before you waste your time and possible your money.

Besides Google rankings, there are several other strategies for getting noticed online. Of course the many marketing ideas are free, such as e-mail flyers, weekly newsletters, promotions, social networking etc. All of these things can be done to gain you foot traffic and will not cost you a dime. Social networking for example, you can create a FaceBook page for your company and offer something useful on it such as information, special offers, links, etc. When someone "Likes" your page it will then show up to all of their friends and so on, so this can be a great way to network and market to groups that are actually interested in your products or services.

E-mail marketing of course can be tricky, it is free to send out mass e-mails, but if you do not target a specific group, offer the right message or create a subject line that will get your e-mail opened, most cases it will be sent to SPAM, ignored and deleted. It can be a huge waste of time sending out e-mails to people that is not interested in what you have to offer. It can also create a bad taste in the mouths of some who may have been interested in your products or services, simply because the message was wrong or it came across unprofessional. It can be a tricky game to ensure that you deliver the right content with the right message to the right people. That is where SEO firms and marketing firms come in handy, they know how to grab your targeted audiences attention and best of all, they already know who your target audience is. Leasing Business Premises

While searching for premises to locate your business, you require professional advice on how to go about the lease agreement. You will need to know several things before signing your business leases, which will ensure you get the most appropriate one. You first of all need to know that the business leases have different requirements than the normal dwelling properties. In the dwelling premises, the landlord has a duty for repairing the building whenever a problem arises and the tenants are supposed to pay a monthly rent fee. Business leases on the other hand require that the tenant pays all outstanding charges above the normal rent agreements, including any repair work needed. This therefore, requires thorough research about any extra costs that you may be required to pay.

Before signing a contract for the business leases, you also need to consider the location of the premises. You should make a through scrutiny of the premises and select the location which best suits your business. Considerations should be made on the accessibility of the premises by customers and it should be able to generate you good returns from a significantly large traffic.

You should not always go for the first price that the landlord sets for the premises. Negotiating with him will see to it that the price is reduced and that you get a better deal that is reasonable and affordable. When negotiating, you should begin with a low amount, which should nevertheless be reasonable. Proper preparation is needed before going for the business leases negotiations and you need to be aware that if the landlord is willing to accept the first quote, then your negotiations were not low enough.

To get the best deal, you should consider taking the advice of a professional while planning to sign a business lease. A consultant will provide you with the necessary advice on the clauses to watch out for on the business leases agreement. This will reduce the chance of getting into a bad contract that might lead you to have less than favorable terms.

While negotiating business lease agreements, you should always ensure that all the agreements are put in writing, which makes them binding. A written agreement ensures that future misunderstandings may be resolved amicably by retrieving the documents. Verbal promises and agreements are not binding in the court of law since they are prone to misrepresentation.

Loan and Equity to Value

Equity and loan value knowledge are vital for business organizations in ther world. This information is vital when one is thinking of financing the business. For instance, when a business is borrowing and has to use an asset like collateral, the organization should be able to determine how much it can borrow against that asset. This is an important step because it saves time and resources when looking for refinancing services from lenders.

Say for instance, you get a loan to buy a business. The loan is repayable in up to fifteen years. In fifteen years, the business makes payments which have added up to the equity in the premise in addition to the equity achieved through market appreciation of the premise. This is useful if, for example, the business wants to build an additional building, like a car park, but does not have cash. The business may want to tale a loan against the equity in the premise to pay for the additional. Therefore, a lending institution will give the organization a percentage of the equity the business has in the premise. In other words, the business is borrowing from itself but paying interest to the lending institution. This type of financing is recommended in preference to taking an additional loan. This is the essence of equity and loan to value.

Businesses that consider equity and loan to value will end up paying less interest than they would have paid had they used credit cards. The loan value refers to the ratio of the value of the business premise compared to the amount the business wanted to borrow. The lending institution will therefore, use the loan value to determine how much money they will lend the business. The firm will therefore, need to know the equity and loan to value in order to know whether they will get enough financing or they have to get other means to finance the project.

Business managers should use equity and loan as a tool for making effective financing decisions. It is also a good indicator of good financial status as well as liquidity.

Equity and Loan Value

The balancing of equity and loan in any financial organization is important. The use of an asset as collateral for refinancing should be preceded with the analysis of the value of the asset and a determining the amount that you can acquire through using it. This information makes the financing application process faster and more fruitful. This balancing of the equity and loan works in a similar process like the home ownership agreements, which also requires the careful scrutiny of the premises.

Equity and loan balancing can be demonstrated with a mortgage which you have been servicing for about several years. The payment of the mortgage as well as the market appreciation of the house adds up its equity. If you want to do some renovations in the house and you don't have the required amount, you can get a bank loan, with the additional equity as collateral. The bank will lend you the money by calculating a percentage of the total equity that you have gained while paying the house. This method means that you are taking a loan from yourself and the bank takes the interest accrued. It therefore provides you with an easier means of getting a loan for financing you needs.

This method of paying for financing is a lot cheaper and convenient than other methods such as credit cards and personal notes. It will also provide you with better terms for the loan since you will have adequate to apply for it. The equity to loan value describes the ration between the value of the premises and the loan amount. The financing institutions use this ratio and also consider other terms on your credit history to come up with the amount that they will offer you. It is therefore, very important to know this ratio, which ensures that you know how much a bank can lend you before applying for the loan.

Having adequate knowledge on the equity and loan to value ratio puts you in a better position to make better informed financial decisions. It also makes quicker financing agreements since you will have all the details about the expected amount beforehand. Knowing the equity and loan to value ratio also indicate a company's liquidity position and its financial status.  Phil Thow Scottsdale Arizona

New Ways to Generate Quality Leads

Sometimes thinking out of the box is essential to enlivening your profits. In this case we want you to think inside the box. Well, the computer but you see where we are going. You can literally reach across the ocean and tap into clientele on the other side of the globe. And the best part is that you can accomplish this at minimal cost to you.

The best way to start out is with an official website. If you already have a website check it out again, it may have been a while since you have looked at it from the customer's point of view. Is it easy to find and navigate? Do you feel that there is enough information provided to at least pique the interest of a customer? Does the content you have seem stale and dated? These are important things to ask yourself on a regular basis. Customers are interested in upfront information. They don't want to play hide and go seek with an underdeveloped site. You should always be updating your information in order to keep content fresh.

If your website is in good order then you can begin to disperse your site's link in various ways. Becoming affiliated with other sites is a great way to get your business, service and/or product into a new sphere of the internet community. Once you have linked yourself to other sites you will need to provide links for their sites on yours as well. This simple act can boost the web traffic to your site by a large percentage and the more visible your site is the more likely you are to find new customers. It is important to note that the more traffic you have on your site the higher your search engine ranking will climb which means even more visibility.

Another way to generate new leads is through sending out promotional emails and newsletters. Promotional emails should interesting and to the point and should have some form of offer that makes visiting the site seem even more worthwhile. Phillip Thow said, that many companies have seen great success by implementing this method. Newsletters can be sent out to provide information about your company and product and let potential customers know about any upcoming sales or events you might be engaging in. Make sure that your emails as interesting, brief and created with dignity. All of these options are a great way to find new customers and are inexpensive and time-efficient as well.

Search engine optimization offers you a wonderful opportunity to build an online following and to build a strong website. The search engines will scan your website for credible information and they will help you gain greater online visibility if you focus on SEO and use the SEO methods correctly.

When it comes to driving traffic to your website, is it better to have organic hits or pay-per-click hits? In order to figure out which is better you need to understand what the two are and how they are different yet similar.

Organic

If you head to Google and do a search for a particular keyword, there will be several pages that appear in the search engine results. When you click on those sites with their small description, you are doing an organic search. If you choose to click on the ads, you are using a pay-per-click search to find the website. You want your customers to find you with organic searches because they are free and the best part is you don't need to manage a pay-per-click marketing campaign to get people click on the links.

Pay-per-click links

If you are struggling to get on the first 2 pages of the search engines, a pay-per-click campaign is one of the best ways to make sure you will appear on the pages. Using pay-per-click campaigns can be pretty expensive, especially if you allow the Google AdSense program to use affiliate marketing where they post your ad on a number of other websites. Pay-per-click is great, but you can waste a lot of money if you aren't using the right keywords to target your niche market. Focus on those keywords as they are vital to your campaign and they are vital to driving the right type of traffic to your website.

You will want to get a good mix of the two search results. Organic is nicer that pay-per-click but you do need to focus hard on getting your website optimized properly if you are going to be able to get people to find you in the organize search results. Keywords are vital to organic search results. Content is also essential to your website and to helping the search engine crawlers find the right information the people performing the searches are looking for. Link building is also vital to your website and to proper SEO. Link building can easily be done using social media sites along with blogs.

Creative website marketing ideas

Website marketing allows you to attract new customers and helps you get in touch with your existing ones. Keeping your customers happy and satisfied is a big part of being able to strengthen your cash flow and to make sure you aren't running into problems. Your website is your greatest marketing tool and you need to focus on marketing it properly in order to attract new customers and to continue attracting your existing customers. This article will teach you some creative website marketing tips to help you get in touch with your customers.

Search engine optimization

The best way to market your website is through SEO. SEO allows you to take an ordinary website and to make it more attractive to the search engines. They will scan your website for things like keywords, title tags, meta tags, content, etc. As you focus on proper optimization of your website, you will be able to generate a higher page rank status and you will earn better online visibility.

Bookmarking

What is social bookmarking and how does it help to market your website? Bookmarking is a new method of online marketing as it uses social media sites and traditional search engines to provide small snapshots of pages on your website. These pages allow customers to quickly view them and find out what pages are relevant to them. Using bookmarking, you can actually get the right type of website traffic you need for your company to build a stronger online presence.

Discussion boards

To get creative with your marketing, start using the discussion boards. These boards can be found on social media sites and other sites where you can learn about your company through the eyes of your customers. Start up a discussion with your customers by asking them a question. You can also use the discussion boards to browse them and gather market research information. Become active on the discussion board to build credibility for your company and to strengthen your relationship with your customers.

Linking

Website linking is a great way to build a stronger online following. You want to have multiple websites feeding into yours in order to build your page rank status. Link your website to social media sites and other place. Some companies use article marketing to build links from other sites and to generate better online visibility. Check the links to make sure they are correct and change them if they aren't so you don't have broken links.

Boosting Sales Through an Email Approach

There is a stigma associated with the combination of business paired with email that makes a lot of the professional world uncomfortable. Some marketers will try and tell you that emails are a waste of time because they always end up in a spam folder. Others may advocate the use of emails but with no real thought to how the email should look or to what the email should say. It is hard to determine if the customer or the company has shunned business emails.

The fact is that some businesses have met a great deal of success through sending out emails. These companies have seen boosts in sales and web traffic following their messages being sent out into the vast universe of the web. So what is it that separates the success stories from the failures? Effort. Emails are a very inexpensive forum for advertising and informing the public but that doesn't mean they have to look or read cheap! The information you provide about your company, product and service should be just as engaging and fleshed out as it would be for a television advertisement or a website post. If you have a fresh take on things and something to offer then emails can be extremely effective.

There are tools available online to help you learn the best and most intriguing ways to format a business email. This is an invaluable service to look in to because it can eliminate a lot of the work that might need to be put into the structure and look of an email. If you take the time to create an interesting and informative email the chances increase that the recipient will become interested and want more information. It is ideal to include a web link in the body of the email so that the potential customer can easily click on it and head straight to the source.

Another facet that might boost your sales through the use of email is for you to offer something to a customer. Lots of sites advertise a free service or product for clicking on a link provided or signing up for free trial offers. This works to show the customer that you believe in your product and you want their business. Lots of official sites have email subscriptions that a potential or current customer can sign up for so that they can receive updated information from you on a regular basis. Most people use email at least once a day. This means that your chances of incurring a new customer or sale is increased to 7x the amount it would be without email notices. Who can argue with those numbers?

When starting a new business, one thing you must apply for is business credit. You have to begin to establish your business credit if you want to make money and establish yourself as a legitimate organization. Credit cards are the easiest way to establish business credit as every transaction will have an impact on your credit rating. It allows lenders to see what type of borrower you are and how well you manage your money.

Acquiring new business credit cards can be challenging as some lenders need to see your company has been operation for at least a year or more before they will offer you a business credit card. This helps them to see your financial records and to know that you are able to manage your finances effectively.

A great benefit to business credit cards is that you can use them to manage your books. If you use the card to purchase everything and keep it for day to day expenses, it's a lot easier to see where you are spending all of your money and you can pay off the balance at the end of the month as one big bill versus having multiple smaller bills. Employees are honest with credit cards as you can call them out if you see personal use on the credit card and you have actual evidence to support you.

Even if you rarely use the business credit card, they can help to build up your credit. Turn to them in emergencies like when your operating capital is low. You can also turn to them to acquire free things like free hotel stays and airfare. Business credit cards usually have better loan terms and rates so you can acquire low interest rates and great rewards.

If operating capital is low and you need additional time to pay your vendors, business credit cards can also give you extra time to pay them so you can acquire cash from your customers and pay off the credit card bill.

Like your personal credit, you must care for your business credit. It is important to take the time to pay your bill off in a timely manner and in full if you can. Your business credit score is called a PayDex Score and it does play a large role in your ability to acquire future credit for your company. PayDex scores are 1-100 and a higher score shows that you are managing your money well and you are paying your bills on time.

Apps Are The Wave Of The Future

Smart phones seem to have taken over these days. You probably own one and if not you can find a dozen friends who do. With so many smart phones in use and the increase in the amount of apps at their fingertips it is becoming increasingly important to businesses to think about creating their own apps. Users of smart phones can download apps for just about anything, getting coupons, listening to the radio or counting calories, but what about an app for your business?

Technorati had a recent report that showed that over 91 million users access the internet though their mobile devices on at least one occasion monthly. This shows that there has been dramatic increases in the way people use the internet, not only in how they access it. As the technology increases it is expected that the people using their mobile devices to access the internet will as well.

Many people still find it easier to use their computers rather than their smart phones to use the internet, but many prefer their phones. There are two ways to access the internet through your smart phone, either by using a mobile browser or through an app. Most people use the mobile browser on their phone still but that number is declining as more and more internet based apps are being created.

More and more people prefer the apps to access the internet as they offer an easier and more user friendly interface. You can find apps to rent a car, book a trip, clip a coupon or just about anything you want to do. Companies are beginning to see this trend is taking off and are beginning to start building their own company based apps.

Companies need to ensure they are using their SEO firm to enhance their local mobile network. Yoru site should be optimized for mobile browsing and you should be listing under a local app directory. With general search apps like Yellowbook and Google Places you should be easily found by all those who seek out your services or products. 87% of all people who use their smart phones or other mobile devices are doing so on GPS enabled devices. This is a vital fact that can help your business grow and gain the traffic it needs from the local market. So when someone is looking for a local place to shop, they will be directed to you.

Are tablets Taking Over?

With so many mobile devices being used it is no wonder that more and more businesses are creating tablets to serve their online customers. There are those that say that tablets will soon take over how we search and browse the internet. When your Seattle website is no longer being viewed, it may be due to the increase in tablets and the majority of people using their mobile devices to find what they need.

There are IT analyst groups that predict that the days of entering text into a search box to get results are numbered for your Seattle website. The changes that will take affect will be due to tablets and with various forms of search methods being controlled by these tablets it will become easier for users to find what they need, but may be harder for your Seattle website to compete. More people will own tablets than laptops in the next three years are what the analysts are saying, so that means your Seattle website better get with the program and quick!

The tablets are brining a new way of searching to the table, a better way and an easier way many say. They will use various senses such as your eyes, your voice, your hearing to bring to you what you are looking for. With voice searches and gesture search and the ability to bring what you are looking for by simply using the Tablets camera we will have a more interactive method for searching than ever before. They will use GPS to find your location and if you are in Seattle will bring you the specifics for businesses in the area.

All of the potential that a tablet can bring to the way we search may be a scary thing for your Seattle website, but if you embrace it and begin to establish your presence with the table way of searching you will benefit greatly.

Is Bing Getting Stronger?

Bing has been trying to compete with the other major search engines like Google and Yahoo and now they may have found their edge. They are offering more than just the average recommendation of shopping sites, places to eat in Seattle or wherever you are and daily specials. Bong has now begun to offer action buttons for their top seven search categories.

  • Airlines
  • Couriers
  • Restaurants
  • Banks
  • Rental Cars
  • Software Downloads
  • Hotels

These action buttons will allow users to get an immediate way to find what they are looking for, as long as it is related to the search category and take immediate action. The users will be able to book their flights from Seattle or anywhere in the world when using the airline button, reserve a rental car when using the rental car action button, calculate shipping or track a package from the courier button, etc.

Bing's algorithms will help to determine what the top three actions are for each action button and those will be offered to the user.

Bing will still be indexing their sites with a small table of contents displayed below the title page. The action buttons are just a more organic way of displaying the three top choices for action, whether it be to find a local Seattle restaurant, check your balance on your Seattle bank account or book a hotel while staying in the Seattle area, the most common actions users take on each site will be now displayed directly from the search page and offer a more convenient way for users to complete their tasks.

Bing has stated they plan on adding more categories as well as more action buttons for each category. They have begun to really get to the heart of the website and find the true use for those who visit it. They have made it to where users will not even have to visit the actual Seattle website to take certain actions. Website owners will be able to control which three action buttons are available through Bing using the algorithms, so Bing has not taken complete controlyet.

Mobile Devices Are Taking Over The Internet

More and more people have Smart phones and are now using them for not just communicating with each other but to browse the internet, get directions, bank, share links and videos or other images, pay their bills and of course shop. As a business you have to understand that having an app for the smart phone will greatly improve your chances at gaining these smart phone users as customers. So, if your Seattle website has not created an app for the smart phone yet, get busy!

Studies from Technrati; shown that more than 91 million users are accessing the internet with their mobile devices. This indicates that there has been a dramatic increase in the last year on the amount of people using their mobile devices for internet purposes and we can expect that to continue to increase as years go by. Your Seattle website has to offer an app and a mobile friendly website in order to compete with this mass amount of potential traffic.

Since you can use the internet through mobile apps or mobile browsers on the smart phones your Seattle website needs to offer an effective method on both ends for the user to find you. Many of the smart phone users prefer the apps as they are more convenient and of course offer a more accurate and effective way to complete a task, but there are those who will use the mobile browsers.

Creating local advertisements for mobile devices such as GPS is a great way to effectively promote your Seattle business in a local market. If you have paid advertisements for your Seattle Cake shop and utilize the marketing through GPS devices or even smart phones, when someone does a local search for a cake shop, they will find your Seattle website at their fingertips.

Convenience

The number one reason consumers shop online is convenience. The internet provides a platform that allows consumers to shop when they want, where they want and how they want. There is no need to spend time searching for products in local stores; the internet allows you to browse hundreds of online retailers and wholesalers with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Selection

Selection is another major reason consumers use the internet to shop. With so many retailers and wholesalers online there is never an end to the supply of products, the choices are amazing and consumers never feel pressured to buy a product simply because it is the only thing available. Consumers can shop at locations across the globe and find everything they need and want, all from their living room.

Price
Price is a huge factor in why people shop online, the prices online is generally lower simply due to the high level of competition. The online stores have no overhead cost so they can afford to lower their prices and with so many competitors they are more apt to offer specials, deals and other promotions to their online customers. You will find that even the offline stores in your area have an online presence and they will often times give exclusive deals to their online consumer group that will not be offered in store.

Doing Well with Wellness Dollars

Small businesses from Seattle Washington to Scottsdale Arizona are offering employees wellness dollars to entice them into making healthy living choices. Wellness dollars are increasingly offered by health insurers and small businesses to encourage healthy behavior and preventative health care steps by employees. The wellness dollars go into a health savings account or health care savings account. The money is then available to cover medical co-pays, prescriptions or even gym memberships (depending on your health insurance). How do you get the best out of wellness dollars?

* Do wellness dollars go into a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Healthcare Reimbursement Account (HCRA)? Find out if you need to set up a health savings account before signing up for programs to get wellness dollars.

* Get your annual physical, now commonly covered at no cost under your health insurance. Then fill out the health insurance wellness form to have the "wellness dollars" put in your account.

* Get your vaccinations up to date. For twice the bang for the wellness buck, take advantage of the free flu shots offered by many small businesses. Then fill in the form and get more wellness dollars for preventing the flu.

* Wellness dollars are sometimes paid simply for filling out a health assessment form online. This may cause a pause for those concerned about personal privacy. If the health assessment is with the medical insurer, the health assessment flags potential areas for concern without sharing undue information, since your health insurer already receives your treatment history from your doctors. Phillip Thow can help you navigate the fine line between privacy and healthy living initiatives.

* Get the payment card linked to the HSA or HCRA so that you can the wellness dollars you've earned. Remember to use it, since HCRA funds are forfeit at the end of the year. However, Health Savings Account funds rollover to the next year.

* Has your resolution each year been to quit smoking? Start the program offered by your health insurer to get help, frequently for free. If you meet their criteria for success, you'll be paid in wellness dollars, too, offsetting any other medical care costs you may incur.

* Health Savings Accounts offer a tax free way to save for future health expenses for most small business employees. Health Savings Accounts set up in places like Seattle, Washington and other states without a state income tax do not face taxes on interest or dividends on HSA accounts. Small businesses in Scottsdale, Arizona and most states with a state income tax follow federal guidelines on tax treatments of Health Savings Accounts. A few states like California and New Jersey differ from the IRS in the treatment of HSA accounts, so you should consult with a research professional like Phil Thow for guidance.
